Government Stand on the GPH-NDF Peace Talks
For more than four decades, communist insurgency in the country has threatened internal security and encumbered nation building. With this high in its consciousness, the Government of the Philippines (GPH) is determined to reach a negotiated political settlement with the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF). President Benigno Aquino III has aimed to forge a peace pact with the Maoist group within three years with a goal of implementing the agreement in the remaining period of his term. While challenges have confronted the revival of the peace negotiations, the government has made it clear that there are no preconditions to the talks. The meetings will resume as scheduled by the two parties.
But the pursuit to peace cannot be done by the government alone. It needs the support of all Filipinos who have a stake in the peace process.
It is time to stand up, take part and share in the vision of a peaceful and progressive Philippines!
